J. Jason Hill has been in practice for over 25 years and joined Cohelan Khoury & Singer in 2007. He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Political Science, and Communications. He received his J.D. degree in 1995 from California Western School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and editor of the Telecommunications Law Forum. Mr. Hill’s practice includes a broad range of employment, consumer, unfair competition, and complex litigation matters in state and federal courts across the country. He is licensed in practice both in California and Illinois and has been involved in many Multi-District Litigation (MDL) matters concerning important nationwide issues in consumer protection, wage theft, and privacy/data breach cases. He is admitted in all state and federal district courts in the State of California, and in the Sixth and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining CKS, Mr. Hill represented institutional clients in a variety of civil litigation settings, including defense in insurance coverage, employment law, health care law, general and professional liability, as well as, premises and product liability claims. His work in the healthcare arena impacted the development of law under the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) and California’s unique Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protections Act (EADACPA). Mr. Hill is also an accomplished appellate practitioner and has briefed and/or argued nearly 40 matters in both state and federal courts of appeal, yielding several published decisions on a wide range of legal issues.

Since joining CKS, Mr. Hill has certified multiple state and federal class actions for employee rights, consumer rights, and unfair competition claims. Mr. Hill also presented over 50 class action settlements for court approval, generating millions of dollars in recovery to class members. Clients, colleagues, and adversaries generally describe Mr. Hill as a good-humored but no-nonsense, capable, smart, and zealous advocate.
